Company Profile
The L.A. Hearne Company has been owned and managed by the same local family
since 1938. With the assistance of many great people in management and on the
staff of our Company, it is the goal of all of us here at the L.A. Hearne
Company to provide exceptional service while offering consistent quality
products to ensure your complete satisfaction.
Our company was founded 62 years ago by Larry Hearne. The first products that
were handled and processed were the locally grown crops of dry beans and grain.

Bean Recipe! We are a major distributor of lima beans and this recipe
will make you a hit with your family!
Beans and grain were complemented ,additionally, by sales of feeds to local livestock producers.
Over the years L.A. Hearne Company has grown and vastly expanded the
products and services offered. The company headquarters is still located in King
City which is at the southern end of the Salinas Valley in Monterey
County, California.
Several new divisions have been added to diversify and better serve the
changing needs of our customers. A large liquid and dry fertilizer application
and blending division along with a seed division handling field and cover crops
serves local growers in the Salinas Valley “The salad bowl of the Nation”
and other growers throughout California.
Modern facilities house the Warehousing and Distribution operations for both
proprietary KING products and items distributed for other companies. A fleet of
trucks with a diversity of equipment move bulk and packaged freight for hire.
Retail operations feature several large and interesting divisions, such as
Western Wear, Fencing, Animal Health & Tack, and Livestock & Pet Food in
the two retail stores.
